The latest generation of a secret society thousands of years old, The Trinity always has three leaders - the Crown, the Sword and the Flame - whose role it is to guide the legions of highly-trained warriors, magicians and assassins within its ranks to whatever goals the leading trio feel it has to accomplish, be that bringing a civilisation down, fighting the forces of good or evil, or enforcing some other mystical plan designed to keep the world turning on it axis.

Jacqueline (Shirley Manson) is the Crown when we first encounter the Trinity, having led its armies for some time but never having had to mobilise her forces for any particular offensive. All of that changes, however, when the trio attempt to locate a new member for their ranks, crossing swords with Chris' team and bringing the actions of this age-old organisation to light at last. Isabelle (Alicia Witt) is the Sword, Jacqueline's bodyguard and commander in chief of the Trinity troops, her laid-back, carefree attitude masking one of the most keenly trained killing machines the world has ever seen, her swordplay a match for anyone on the planet. The final member, the Flame, is Charlotte (Lindsey Lohan), a black magician - and Chris' ex-lover, who betrayed him to join the Trinity many years ago. Endlessly put upon by Jacqueline but defended by Isabelle, Charlotte has a game plan of her own to pursue...
